New oak barrels at Bavik
12 december 2007

The Bavik Brewery has installed 5 new oak barrels in its Petrus aging cellar.  Each barrel has a capacity of 22.000 liters.  The exisiting capacity of 200.000 liters grows in this way with 50%

Some of the Petrus Beers (like e.g. the Petrus Aged Pale) age for about 2 years in these oak barrels  in order to obtain a specific taste and character.

The new barrels were bought in France in the well known 'Foudrerie François' at Brive La Gaillarde.   The barrels were assembled in Bavikhove by 5 'Maitres Foudriers'.  These specialists  all have had a very specific training

The construction started at November 27th and finished December 6th.
